Amazon Flex delivery partners must maintain the insurance required for delivering packages in their area. In addition to personal coverage, Amazon says it provides commercial auto insurance at no cost in every U.S. state except New York.
The Amazon policy applies only while the delivery partner is actively delivering during the delivery block. Amazon does not define every boundary of that phrase, so a scheduled block alone is not a promise of coverage.
The three listed coverages
- Auto liability coverage for harm caused to others.
- Uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage.
- Contingent comprehensive and collision coverage for qualifying damage to the delivery vehicle.
Contingent vehicle coverage sits alongside the driver’s personal insurance; it is not a reason to drop the personal protection the driver needs. Amazon’s current public FAQ does not publish dollar limits, a deductible amount or a named U.S. carrier. Third-party dollar figures are not verified by this source.
The active-block boundary
Amazon’s wording is “actively delivering during the delivery block.” It does not say precisely whether driving to the station, time between stops, or a return trip qualifies. Keep your block and delivery records, but do not infer a broader trigger than Amazon states.
New York is excluded
Amazon says its commercial auto insurance does not apply to Flex delivery partners in New York because of local regulations. It says drivers there may need additional commercial coverage and should check with their insurer. That is not a finding that every New York driver must buy a particular policy.
Driver and vehicle conditions
Amazon says a claim for incurred losses will be denied if someone other than the Flex delivery partner was driving when the accident occurred. If you use a borrowed or rented vehicle, Amazon tells you to make sure the required insurance is in place. The applicable terms and claim facts still matter.
