Usually, no.
Uber's current delivery insurance page says the coverage Uber maintains for delivery drivers does not pay to repair your own car during any period of a delivery. That is different from Uber rideshare coverage.
What does Uber Eats insurance cover?
Uber maintains commercial liability coverage for delivery activity.
That may help pay for injuries or property damage you cause to someone else in a covered accident. It generally does not pay to repair your vehicle.
Who might pay for my car?
Depending on what happened:
- Your own insurance. Your policy may cover the damage — but only if it covers delivery activity.
- The other driver's insurance. If another driver caused the crash, their coverage may apply.
- Additional state-required coverage. Some states may require protection beyond Uber's general delivery rules.
Rideshare vs. delivery
Yes, they differ. Uber says rideshare and delivery trips are insured under separate policies. The coverage depends on what type of trip you were doing when the accident happened.
Uber rideshare
Contingent comprehensive and collision may apply to your car after you accept a ride, if you carry those coverages personally. A $2,500 deductible applies.
Uber Eats (delivery)
Uber-maintained coverage does not pay to repair your own car during any period of a delivery. Liability coverage for damage you cause to others may still apply.
After an Uber Eats accident
Save photos, the other driver's information, your Uber trip details and your app status. Report the crash through the Uber Driver app.
And check whether your personal policy specifically covers delivery, not just personal driving.
